In my copy of Hendrix on Hendrix: Interviews and Yes i am old but i saw Robert Plant on stage shirt Encounters with Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Hendrix mentions Pink Floyd in interviews three times. The first two times he mentions Pink Floyd in two separate interviews, both conducted by Steve Barker: one in January 1967 and one in November 1967. In the January 1967 interview, when Barker asks Hendrix if he has ever seen Pink Floyd, he says, “I’ve heard they have beautiful lights but they don’t sound like nothing.” Earlier in the same interview, he makes a comment which doesn’t mention Pink Floyd by name but could be interpreted as a slam on Floyd’s early live performances. The third time Hendrix mentioned Pink Floyd in an interview was in an August 1970 interview that was printed.

In this interview, Jimi Hendrix was both more favorable toward psychedelic music in general and Pink Floyd specifically: The term ‘blowing someone’s mind’ is valid. People like you to blow their minds, but then we are going to give them something that will blow their mind, and while it’s blown there will be something there to fill the gap. It’s going to be a complete form of music. It will be really druggy music. Yes, I agree it could be something on similar lines to what Pink Floyd is tackling. They don’t know it, you know, but people like Pink Floyd are the mad scientists of this day and age.
