As a Buckeye fan I have no doubt that “fairness” I’m a Kansas City Chiefs and a Kansas City Royals for life shirt has nothing to do with the college football playoffs. Not complaining, that factor has worked for us and against us. Keep in mind this really isn’t a true playoff. The 4 teams are picked by a committee. That’s really no different than a poll since it is based upon opinion and not objective criteria. I would suggest that if we want fair or deserving to be a factor then lets use objective criteria that everybody understands. First, only conference champions can participate. (Exception being an undefeated independent.) Second, the tie-breaker between conference champions is the overall record.

W&L’s. Third, Tiebreaker then goes to the committee for a I’m a Kansas City Chiefs and a Kansas City Royals for life shirt vote with the charge to use the strength of schedule, best wins, worst losses, and other explainable reasons why the choice was ultimately made. Saying a team “looked” better winning is not an explanation. To me fair means knowing what you have to do at the beginning of the season to win a national championship. It doesn’t mean the “best” four teams based on opinions get in. Certainly, some conferences are going to be more difficult to win than others. Is that fair? Maybe. Maybe not. Those in easier conferences will be tested in a playoff.
